My First No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Class Humbled Me (And Taught Me This...) 🥵

What No-Gi Taught Me the Hard Way?

Hey friend,

Wanna hear about the day I got tossed around like a slippery potato?

Yeah… that was my first no-gi class.
And let me tell you—it rocked my ego.

Here’s what went down:

From Confident to Confused… Real Fast

I’d been training in the gi for about 8 months.
I had a solid cross-collar choke, a decent guard, and I felt pretty confident.
So when I walked into my first no-gi session, I thought I’d do fine.

Spoiler alert: I didn’t. 😅

No gi = no handles. No sleeves, no lapels, no pants to grip.

I went for my usual grips… and found nothing but sweat and air.
I tried to hold half guard… and the dude slid right out like a fish.
Every submission I set up? Gone before I could even lock it in.

I wasn’t just humbled—I was exposed.
